Today’s post is going to be different than what we usually do. As you know the cold and flu season is here. Hopefully, you have managed to avoid it. Like who has time to be sick? We would all rather be out junkin! Time is money, right? Spring can’t come soon enough. This has been the worst winter for sickness in our family so far. My husband and I have both been sick. Dawn and her husband are just getting over it too.
The CDC says the best way to prevent the flu each year is to get vaccinated. I had the flu shot and I still got sick. I just didn’t get the flu full force or have it for very long. So I think the shot definitely helps. There were a few essentials that go us through the rough patch. Mainly prescribed medicines, but some were just everyday essentials that every house should have. We wanted to share a few of those with all of you.
The number one tip Dawn and I suggest is having a cool-mist humidifier like the one shown above. You find these are Target and Walmart and I even saw them in TJ MAXX yesterday. This little jewel has been a lifesaver for me. I have used these for years as I am an allergy and asthma patient. In the event you didn’t know, humidifiers disperse a fine mist into the air creating a better environment. This helps your skin, lips, and nasal passages.
If you are coughing your head off like I was, you will love these honey menthol cough drops. These are twice the size of normal cough drops. They are great about clearing out sinuses and calming your throat. I love the little bit of honey that is in the middle too. I highly recommend these. They also have them in the Honey Lemon flavor too.
I have been using these Vicks Vapo Patches this year and loving them. You still get the same great benefits as the Vapor Rub, you just don’t have all the mess.
Another product that I can’t live without is Dr. Teals Pure Epsom Salt Soaking Solution. I like both the Eucalyptus and the Lavender. I alternate. I use these when I have been on my feet a lot or when I have had a long day. My achy muscles feel so much better after a soak in this stuff.
I’ve turned into such a Grandma. After I soak in Epsom’s Salt Soak then I turn to this large heating pad wrap This is great for those necks and backaches. When you have had a long day of picking your body will thank you. I love that it’s so large and offers snug coverage with heat settings. It’s like getting a big warm hug.
Don’t forget to stay hydrated. I love this water bottle. It helps to keep me on track.
If you are like me those digital thermometers that go under the tongue or arm are always failing me. I love this Temple Touch Thermometer. It gets the job done.
My lips get so dry and cracked during the winter months especially if I am outside a lot. I love using these Organic Beeswax Lip Balms. You get 6 flavors with this combo pack.
Make sure to stay warm this winter with this Oversized Sherpa Blanket. It’s available in many different colors and it’s so soft and warm. Perfect for snuggling up on the couch.
We hope this post will help someone. We love to hear what gets you through the cold and flu season or we just love to hear products that you love to use too.
